New Site, Beijing & Tabitha Lowey
by Steve Pastorino / August 12, 2008
All eyes are on Beijing, where the first four days have yielded few surprises, but hours and hours of action and heroics. Kudos to NBCOlympics.com for webcasting virtually every game, plus giving Dawn Allinger-Lewis and Andrew Catalon several opportunities to broadcast games for MSNBC as well.
We launched usateamhandball.org last Friday. The official home of our federation, it will feature a store, member services, latest news and information and much more. Visit and bookmark it!
Finally, I caught up with Tabitha Lowey, a member of the USA Women's National Team pool, when she came to Salt Lake City with her employer, Nike. We talked about the current state of the women's team, including the impact of the residency program in Cortland. She started her handball career there in 2006 after a stellar career in soccer at (my alma mater!) Northwestern. She's committed to handball through 2012, at least, and we discussed the possibility of players like her moving to Europe to compete professionally in order to improve more rapidly. She also has a wedding date this fall and is quickly climbing the corporate ladder at Nike.
If you want to talk handball and are ever in Salt Lake City, look us up!
