Norway celebrates its first gold

Norway went undefeated throughout the fortnight in Beijing, capitalizing their run with an emphatic 34-27 defeat of Russia in the Gold Medal game.  The prohibitive favorite lived up to their billing, as Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth and Else Lybekk shared top scoring honors with 31 goals.  It was a diverse, deep and well-balanced attack however, sparked by veterans like Gro Hammerseng (24 goals), Kari Johansen and Katja Nyberg, that paved the path to gold.

South Korea earned the women's bronze.

On the men's side, star-studded France played to the capabilities, sweeping through the competition with relative ease - their only blemish being a tie against Poland in the opening round.  Les Bleus proved themselves with suffocating defense in the final.

Spain earned the men's bronze.
